Payments/Salary

Expenses

Approval: They have a template for expenses that must be signed by the actual employer and should include receipts. Fees: They do not charge a fee for expenses. Payout date: They can pay out daily, so the employee can be compensated right away or with the monthly salary.

Payroll Cut-off date

Salaries are usually paid on the 20th. of each month (if it does not land on the weekend/on a public holiday). They need to receive the money the day before (20th of each month).

Tax Deductions

E.g., home office, car depreciation, etc. Due to different regulations in each Kanton, the employee has to handle those deductions in the annual tax filing.

ESOP/VSOP

They are not used to handling stock option plans.

Vacation

Payout: As employees have a fixed monthly salary, their payout does not change, regardless of how many vacation days they take in a month. Also, there is no compensation if a public holiday falls on a Sunday.

Termination

Limited work contracts - very difficult to terminate. Unlimited work contracts - quite easy to terminate.
