Hacienda refers to the Agencia Tributaria, which is Spain’s national tax authority. It is responsible for collecting taxes and ensuring compliance with tax laws.

People in Spain commonly use "Hacienda" when referring to tax matters, such as filing income tax returns, paying VAT, or handling tax audits. If someone says they "have to deal with Hacienda," it typically means they have tax-related obligations to fulfil

Additional tax payment

A talent may receive a request from Hacienda for an extra tax payment to proceed while filing their taxes.

As WorkMotion, we cannot know under which employer this payment is required to be done by the talent due to less withheld taxes amount during the employment or the reason behind this request as an employee could bought and sold crypto coins or shares and got a benefit last year and they didn´t send information about that, or maybe they can also have been renting a flat getting more money and the tax office has detected now to they are requesting more tax payments. All these examples would be an extra income outside the payroll cycle.

What if the talent claimed that we wrongly withheld tax amounts?

At the beginning of the new tax year, the vendor files the tax forms for the previous tax year (Form 190 for residents), and the information presented there matches what is communicated to the talent through the Certificado de retenciones. If the withholding taxes were incorrect, the tax office would notify the vendor of the incorrect tax rate.

So all you will need to do is verify with the vendor has they got a notification or not, if not then everything is okay from our side and the talent needs to check this with a tax advisor / the tax office.
