Overtime rates
Always check the talent's contract for the rates & and update the salary sheet with it per talent, it's usually as follows:
Regular working days: the rate is 1.5
Sundays or PH: The rate is 2
In case the talent's contract states no overtime is paid as it's a part of remuneration however you received OT through the MPT, please proceed with paying the the overtime normally based on the previous rates as this means his employer (The client) approves this payment.
Overtime calculation
Hourly Salary Calculation:To calculate the hourly salary, divide the monthly salary by either 21.67 (average working days per month) and 8 (working hours per day), or use 173.36 (total working hours per month).
Formula: Hourly Salary = Monthly Salary / 173.36
Overtime Payment:To calculate the overtime payment, multiply the overtime rate (OT rate) by the hourly salary and the number of overtime hours worked.
Formula: Overtime Amount = OT Rate x Hourly Salary x Number of OT Hours
Example Calculation
Scenario: A talent has a monthly salary of 24,980.22 ZAR and worked 10.5 extra hours on regular days and 6 extra hours on Sunday.
Step 1: Calculate Hourly Salary Hourly Salary = 24,980.22 ZAR / 173.36 = 144.09 ZAR
Step 2: Calculate Overtime for Regular Days Overtime for Regular Days = 144.09 ZAR x 10.5 x 1.5 = 2,269.48 ZAR
Step 3: Calculate Overtime for Sunday Overtime for Sunday = 144.09 ZAR x 6 x 2 = 1,729.08 ZAR
Step 4: Calculate Total Overtime Payment Total Overtime Payment = 2,269.48 ZAR + 1,729.08 ZAR = 3,998.62 ZAR
