Employees are eligible for nine days of employer-paid sick leave. Afterward, the SSIA pays the sick leave.
1st is always unpaid leave generally unpaid, unless specified otherwise by a collective agreement or specific employment terms.
2nd to 3rd day of sickness is calculated at 75% of average daily earnings.
4th - 9th day of sickness is calculated at 80% of average daily earnings.
From the 10th day of incapacity for work, the doctor issues an incapacity for work certificate B, for the duration of which the SSIA grants and pays sickness benefits. From the 10th day onwards, the employee will not receive salary or compensation from workmotion and will be paid directly by the SSIA.
Sick pay (1st-9th day) is paid out within the normal remuneration and will be displayed on the payslip under "Darba nespējas lapa A (pa dienām)" The salary will be reduced based on the number of days sick leave taken.
